About Me
Hi, welcome to my website! I am Stefan Graham, a satellite payload
performance engineer, and data scientist. I completed my undergraduate
and graduate degree in Earth and Space Physics and Engineering at the
Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Since 2020, I have worked at
the European Space Agency (ESA) on the Automatic Identification System (AIS) payload for ship
detection embarked on the Sentinel-1 C/D satellite. In my spare time, I enjoy calisthenics, triathlon training,
rock climbing and playing guitar.
Work Experience
Performance Engineer - European Space Agency (ESA)
European Space Technology Centre (ESTEC), Netherlands | 2020 - Current
- Applied advanced wireless communication techniques to enhance AIS detection and demodulation.
- Developed SAR-AIS data fusion tools based on constant false alarm rate (CFAR) hypothesis testing.
- Conducted research into an experimental algorithm for source separation of colliding AIS signals using deep learning.
- Led the AIS verifications activities in preparation for the launch of Sentinel-1 C/D including implementation of the data validation toolboxes and management of external industrial partners.
- Delivered algorithms to the ground segment team for processing the AIS data and defined the end-user product specification.
- Implemented an end-to-end AIS payload data simulator for performance verification.
- Initiated and coordinated collaborations with universities, research institutes and other teams within ESA leading to improved knowledge exchange.
- Participated in satellite testing in the industrial clean rooms and conducted the subsequent analysis of test results.
- Defined and reviewed requirements for the Sentinel-1 Next-Generation mission (2032) ensuring alignment with technological advancements and mission objectives.
